There are more than just financial dividends for Canadians from Homeownership
The financial benefits of homeownership are well documented. However, a new industry white paper from the Canadian Real Estate Association reveals that homeownership has varied dividends for Canadians. The report shows that home-ownership also produces non-financial benefits to measures of happiness and life satisfaction; family and child outcomes; health outcomes; as well as civic outcomes including higher engagement in your community,
While the upside of buying real estate to build financial security and multi-generational wealth is a strong reason to invest, it would be a mistake to disregard the broad benefits that flow from a culture of homeownership. These benefits extend from the individual homeowner to society at large. And they do not discriminate by income levels, ages, or regions. In fact, the data and research show many of these benefits are most pronounced for low- and middle-income households.
